Today is MORE beautiful than yesterday! Sun is shining brightly at 8:00 a.m., snow is melted, temps are warm and birdies are singing. God is so good!
Yesterday I was remembering the GOOD OLD DAYS and even referred to them as such to my children. The things I miss with no little ones in my home:
1) Cuddling on the couch
2) Singing to them
3) Reading to them at night
4) Teaching them to read
5) Putting them to bed early and them falling asleep early
6) Opinions far and few between :)
7) Content watching Sesame Street
8) What I said was gold
9) Pushing them in strollers (I loved taking my girls for walks)
It's not that I don't LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the stage my children are in now it's simply that I recall things being simpler when my kids were a bit younger. We are in a new stage of life. All of my children have opinions (girls can be very opinionated and I have three girls! :)). Each of my children like to stay up late and sleep in (I want them to bed early). My children often tell me they don't want me to read to them before bed (I want to read them a nighty, night story!). I'm lucky if one of them wants to cuddle each day (sometimes I'm lucky and they snuggle and I take full advantage of it).
So after pondering these thoughts I began reading my bible and OF COURSE God showed me a verse I had never seen before -
Ecclesiastes 7:10 Don't long for "the good old days." This is not wise.
Lord I am MORE than blessed at this point in my life. I love seeing my children growing up and becoming beautiful individuals inside and out. I will stop thinking about the good old days. I AM living the good old days right here, right now!!! Thank you Lord for showing me this today. You are wonderful to me.
Today we are not schooling. Samantha turned 13 so we are going to spend the day shopping for dinner goodies and cake items for a small gathering we will have later today. Samantha has big plans to make her own cake using her new decorating skills she learned in cake decorating class. I'll share pics tomorrow.
P.S. Anyone else ever wish for the good old days? Please don't tell me I'm the only one God put that bible verse in the bible for!

I love this post! Yes, I do find myself, especially when the weather is spring like, wishing for the days of baby bonnets and stroller walks and big eyes and chubby fingers. I miss the times when my babies did not have wrists - you know, just a chubby hand topping a chubby arm? I miss making cookies with people who were just happy to dump ingredients. I miss lavendar baby bath before bedtime. I miss early bedtimes. I miss cutting up hotdogs and peeling grapes.
But, I love my life right now, too! It was for sure simpler back then, though. Of course we thought is was harder and could not wait for the days we are in now. When will be as people learn to live in the moment!
Hi! I found you through Jen. I have four children in their 30's, two in their 20's, and two teens. I do miss the Little People that used to live in my house. But God has given us a great gift in Memory. How sad it would be if we din't have that!
Thanks for sharing this verse. It reminds me of a lyric from a Carly Simon song "back in the day":
"And stay right here, 'cause these are the Good Old Days."

Barbara thanks for stopping by to say hello. It's nice to 'meet you'. What a great reminder: "stay right here cause these are the good old days!" So true.
Jen I LOVED baby shampoo and baby bath soap smells. I wonder if my children would wash their hair with baby shampoo just so I can sniff them. Guess it wouldn't be the same... :)
